Saint Augustine said, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” A chance to step back from a busy schedule is rare, but precious when it comes along. The Pathways Retreat in the fall and the Intercollegiate Retreat in the spring are weekends offered for undergraduate students to explore and renew their faith lives. The Campus Ministry Foundations Retreat Team provides days of reflection for high school students in the Diocese of Manchester.
Pathways Retreat: People Assenting to Hope. Willing. Abiding. Yearning. Serving.
The Pathways Retreat is the best opportunity for Rivier students to spend a weekend away reflecting on what it means to be a person of faith.
Intercollegiate Retreat: Schools Like Us
The Intercollegiate Retreat unites Rivier students with students from a number of New England Catholic Colleges for a weekend of faith reflection, but also time to compare and contrast the college and campus ministry experience at different schools.
Faculty/Staff Retreat Weekends:
These weekends aim at bringing together faculty and staff for quiet time and reflection. As a Catholic University dedicated to transforming hearts and minds to serve the world, it is part of our mission as faculty and staff to continue educating the whole person and growing in our faith to best serve our students.
Foundations Retreat Team:
The Foundations Retreat Team plans and executes the Foundations Retreats. Currently there are two Foundations Retreats: “Finding and Owning Your Faith” for 9th and 10th grade students, and “Rejoice! You are Loved” for 11th and 12th grade students. The 11th and 12th grade retreat is offered by special request and we encourage parishes to collaborate in order to form a retreat group of willing participants for this age level.
Please contact Campus Ministry for more information on joining this team. The next weekend training is scheduled for Fall, 2013.
Rivier students help design and lead retreats for high school students called “Foundations”. The core team works with the campus ministry staff to come up with content for the day, and then leadership training is given to Rivier students to help lead small groups and provide hospitality on the retreat days. About 50-60 high school students come to Rivier for a day of reflections, interactive activities and prayer.
The day-long retreats cover themes such as personal gifts, values, moral decision-making and role models of faith as well as scripture and prayer.
The theme of all the Foundations Retreats is “Finding and Owning Our Faith.” Through the course of the day participants will be led by Rivier University students through guided activities, the use of scripture, small group reflection times and different prayer experiences. Our themes within the theme focus on: reviewing the major events of one’s life and asking where God was present; taking an inventory of one’s God given gifts; identifying one’s top values in life; reviewing the foundations of saintliness and role models of faith; and engaging in different types of prayer from Mass to Scripture, Meditation to individual journaling.
Stay tuned for scheduled retreats for Fall 2013:*
