Advising Office (ISAO)

Goal: To ease the entry of graduate and undergraduate international students by providing timely and ongoing advising in matters of personal, social, cultural, and immigration concerns.  To provide highly personal approach helps F-1 students make successful transitions into the Rivier community.

 Dey Barriga, International Student Advisor, provides initial guidance and continuous assistance to all F-1 students.

The advisor provides assistance  with matters such as immigration regulations/procedures, housing, social security numbers, personal issues, drivers’ licenses, cultural adjustment, employment, filing income tax, and traveling outside the United States as well as re-entry. Each semester, an electronic newsletter with update on recent immigration rules and regulations is sent to all F1 students to make them aware of their resposibilities in maintaining their legal status. 

International and mullticultural programs are offered every semester to  promote activities in cultural diversity and global awareness. Diwali and International Spring Festival which features Holi and Chinese New Year are some of the exciting events on campus. The multicultural affairs office offers program like Welcome Reception, International Dessert and the Multicultural Celebration in collaboration with our international students organization.   The Indian Student Association of Rivier University, SANGAM, is active on campus and celebrates Indian cultural traditions such as the Diwali and Holi.  Rivier University also celebrates the Moon Festival and the Chinese New Year under the leadership of the Rivier University Chinese Student Association.
