OVERVIEW: To perform a
variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance, repair and
construction work on University buildings and grounds. Assist as needed with
other general building and grounds maintenance tasks.
a variety of skilled and semi-skilled trades work associated with the maintenance,
repair and construction of campus facilities, involving one or more of the
and exterior painting, staining, varnishing: prepare surfaces by cleaning,
stripping and/or scraping, apply primers and final finishes;
carpentry repairs and basic construction tasks involving doors, windows, walls,
installation, including taping and joint finishing;
plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical
projects/tasks, under general direction of a senior technician;
cutting and glazing;
work (asphalt shingle installation and other roofing surfaces);
on special construction projects, such as erection of stages for commencement
ceremonies, installation of fences, construction of stairways, and the like.
electrical fixture and line maintenance, repair and installation;
and masonry work (wall repair and construction, laying footings, concrete
available on-call for emergency service.
with planning, scheduling and estimating tasks associated with preventive
maintenance operations and installation and repair projects.

general grounds maintenance work as needed, including snow removal, trash
pickup and removal, furniture/equipment moving and set-ups, and the like.
school education, plus 3 to 4 years of relevant technical training/experience,
or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge
and skills are acquired.
base of technical knowledge and skills related to the building trades,
including rough\and finish carpentry, plumbing/HVAC, electrical, masonry and concrete
work, heavy equipment operation, and the like, with in-depth skills/experience
in one or more trades area.
to work from blueprints and specifications.
ability to perform all primary job duties.
to work evenings, weekends and on an on-call basis.The ability and willingness to
support the mission of the University, in all daily activities.
