OVERVIEW

Rivier University (www.rivier.edu) invites applications for the position of Director of Development. Founded in 1933 by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Rivier College became Rivier University on July 1, 2012. The University is a four-year Catholic institution in Nashua, New Hampshire offering liberal arts and professional programs with an enrollment of 2,300 students.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The University seeks an experienced and energetic fundraiser with a proven track record of closing annual and major gifts and meeting or exceeding measurable performance goals. The Director of Development will join an advancement operation with the strategic goal of advancing a donor-centric fundraising model and accelerating philanthropy across all aspects of the institution. Reporting to the Vice President of University Advancement and working closely with the President, the Development Director will identify, cultivate, and solicit University donors and new prospects. The Director will design, develop, deliver, and measure fundraising programs to increase philanthropic support across all levels. The Director’s three direct reports include the Associate Director of the Annual Fund, Advancement Services Specialist and an Administrative Assistant. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and 5 years of experience in a development or advancement office in higher education or a non-profit organization and will demonstrate: 
  • success closing annual and major gifts through personal solicitation and written proposals  
  • a track record of developing innovative and successful fundraising programs 
  • exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • experience managing and motivating fundraising and advancement services staff to reach or exceed established goals 
  • ability to manage multiple short- and long-term goals in a deadline driven environment 
  • The ability and willingness to support the mission of the University, in all daily activities
