GRADUATE ASSISTANT
DIVISION OF ARTS & SCIENCES
(18 hours per week, 14 weeks)

OVERVIEW
The Division of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Graduate Assistant (Technical/Research) for the fall 2013 semester who will provide technical/research skills to the Division of Arts and Sciences. The assignment is expected to begin on September 4, 2013 (start of fall 2013 semester) and continue through December 13, 2013 (last day of final exams). The position will require that the successful candidate work a total of 18 hours per week for 14 weeks per semester. Compensation will include tuition remission (excluding books, supplies, and/or fees) for a total of 6 credit hours for the 2013 fall semester. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  
Duties would include (a) providing research and data analysis assistance to faculty and others in the Division of Arts and Sciences; (b) assisting in the operation of clinical and experimental research laboratories in the Division; and providing technical/office assistance to the Administrative Assistant of the Division of Arts and Sciences and to Division faculty, as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s degree and full-time status as a graduate student at Rivier University.  Technical and research abilities must meet Division’s qualifications.  The successful applicant will have proficient research and data analysis skills using SPSS, demonstrated computer competency, good familiarity with the University’s Learning Management system (CANVAS), and proven ability to use Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Good interpersonal skills in working with faculty, students, and staff are important.  The successful candidate must be reliable, punctual, enjoy working on difficult conceptual tasks and statistical problems, is self-reliant and emotionally mature, demonstrates a good attention to detail, and possesses excellent organizational and time management skills.   Candidate must also encompass the ability and willingness to support the mission of the University, in all daily activities. 

COMPENSATION: 
This position is 18 hours per week position for both Term 1 and Term 2 graduate terms.  (Exact weeks, days and hours worked to be determined with supervisor.)  Compensation is a tuition waiver of 6 graduate credits during the fall semester. Courses need to be taken simultaneously with the semesters worked as graduate assistant.
