David Perdue’s Charles Dickens Page
A wealth of information on Dickens is presented here, including biographical sketches, a map of Dickens’ London, and information on Dickens’ works and characters.


Encyclopedia Mythica

An online encyclopedia of mythology, folklore, and legends, containing over 5700 definitions of gods and goddesses, supernatural beings, legendary creatures, and more, from all over the world.


English Literature on the Web
Mitsuharu Mtasuoka, Associate Professor at Nagoya University in Japan, maintains this set of links to English literature information on the web, including e-texts.

Provides convenient author/title/ and custom searching  for the
 major Gale Literary publications.


The Literary Gothic
The Literary Gothic is a Web site for all things concerned with literary Gothicism, which includes ghost stories, "classic" Gothic fiction (1764-1820), and related pre- and post-Gothic and supernaturalist literature prior to the mid-twentieth century. The goals of this site are to collect in one place all links pertaining to literary Gothicism, and to make available e-texts of important and overlooked early works of Gothic or supernatural interest.

Literary Movements in American Literature provides a brief overview, including definitions and links, of selected movements in American literature and culture. "Access the Great Books is a compilation of over 240 great authors and their works, with notable attention devoted to works of philosophy and science." Links are provided to sites which include study guides, biographical information on certain authors, and background information on certain works.


African American Women Writers of the 19thCentury
A full text database of 52 19th and early 20th- century titles, this digital library is key-word-searchable. Each individual title as well as the entire database can searched to determine what these women had to say about "family", "religion", "slavery" or any other subject of interest to the researcher or casual reader.

John Milton Reading Room
The Milton Reading Room offers most of Milton's major poetry in English. The texts include framed annotations that link to reference materials, such as sources of literary allusions and historical background, as well as gloss archaic words or uses.


The Online Books Page

From the University of Pennsylvania, this site provides links to online texts of over 10,000 online books, pointers to significant directories and archives of on-line texts, special exhibits, and more, founded in 1993 by John Mark Ockerbloom at Carnegie Mellon University.
