Course Description(3 credits )
This course provides the students with a comprehensive understanding of the
protocols and technologies of Wide Area Networks (WANS). Topics include:
packet-switching networks, frame-relay, routing protocols, congestion
control and resource allocation, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)
technologies, Internet, TCP/IP protocols, IPv6, Quality of Service and multimedia
support, Packet over SONET, Multiprotocol Label Switching, Voice over IP,
Virtual Private Network, and higher layer protocols.
Prerequisites : CS553 Introduction to Networking Technologies,
or equivalent.
