Student Conservation Association  - Their motto is "changing lives through service to nature." Their Resource Assistant Program annually offers more than 1,000 three-twelve month expense-paid internship opportunities to assist with the conservation and management of our national parks, wildlife refuges, other public lands, and natural/cultural resources nationwide.

Teach for America - Non-profit organization that recruits recent college grads, from all academic majors, to commit to teach for two years in under-resourced public urban and rural schools.  No teaching certification required.

AmeriCorps* VISTA - Volunteers in Service to America

Maine Conservation Corps/AmeriCorps - Dedicated to accomplishing outdoor recreation and conservation projects, promoting and managing volunteer opportunities, providing conservation education, building self-esteem and leadership, and raising the aspirations of members and volunteers.

WorldTeach - Volunteer teaching overseas in developing countries for new graduates and undergraduates.  No certification required.  Seeks to promote international education and cultural exchange (eight weeks to a year commitment).
