Selected as one of only seven nurses to be admitted into RN training program after rigorous selection process.  Completing in-depth, eight-month rotation working under a training preceptor.  Gaining valuable clinical experience to assume the role of a professional nurse within an acute care setting.  Rotating through all medical center areas, including Post Surgical, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Oncology, Emergency Department, Psychiatric Nursing, Cardiac Telemetry, and Critical Care.  Gaining speed and skill in the areas of administering medication, dressing changes, sterile technique, post-surgical positioning and interventions, physical assessments and documentation while utilizing the nursing process in planning care for patients.  Effectively prioritize care during periods of staff shortages, dealing appropriately with patient concerns and complex medical issues.  Recognized for ability to identify significant changes in status based on observation, intuition, and patient interaction. 

 

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

-          Red Cross volunteer, Nashua, NH and Arlington, MA (2005 – Present)

-          Raised over $3,000 by coordinating an on-campus walk for the American Cancer Society to increase breast cancer awareness (2005)

-          For student project, independently organized campaign and collected over 2,000 new and gently used toys to relieve toy shortage for the children and  adolescents at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH (2004)

-          Participant of the Annual AIDS Walkathon (2002 to 2005), raising over $5000.00
