Dear Ms. Smith:
I read your ad in the April 22, 1998 New Hampshire Sunday News with a great deal of interest because my qualifications seem to match your specifications exactly. I am a recent graduate of Rivier College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies. My education included several work experiences that are directly applicable to the position of Case Technician Trainee, as described in your ad.
Your department is seeking a candidate that will perform "fact finding and data gathering duties by following clearly defined policies and procedures." In my position as Civil Investigator with Morgan Investigation and Consulting, I researched civil cases and used the information gathered to determine liability.
You also ask that your ideal candidate have experience with "considerable public contact." During my work with the Law Office of Peterson and Jones, I was in constant contact with the public during my investigations. This contact included questioning witnesses, client meetings, and interface with police and medical agencies.
Finally, you seek a candidate with the ability to "exercise judgment and attention to detail as required in interpreting and explaining rules." I believe the research and investigative skills I used when determining liability in my work with Morgan Investigating & Consulting are directly transferable to the skills necessary for determining and certifying eligibility to economic service programs.
Enclosed please find my resume. I look forward to discussing how my experiences and background can help to serve your needs. I will contact you within the next few days to arrange for a meeting time at your convenience. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely yours,
Raymond H. Hills
