Mathematics Teacher
Teach full spectrum of secondary school math curriculum (7th-12th grades) to a multicultural student body at this comprehensive school, focusing on math and science. Scope of position covers pre-algebra through pre-calculus courses, including instruction to ESL students.
Science Teacher – 8th Grade
Teach Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and Meteorology as well as enrichment classes for 3 classes daily, with up to 30 students per class, utilizing curriculum compacting and tiered instruction with 5 tiered teams in a block-scheduling system.
Teaching Experiences
High School English and Journalism
Teach in a collaborative setting with 18 professionals. Plan cross-curricular units with science, math, and social studies departments. Use technology extensively to introduce new materials to students, to supplement traditional library research, and to teach basic layout design for newspaper and yearbook. Create and instruct units on early American authors including minority authors. Conference with students regarding writing and journal projects and final portfolio submissions.
Business Education
Developed innovative program entitled ‘Classroom in the Mall’ as a way to offer a specialized Retail Marketing educational experience. Secured support of school administrators and retail store owners fully committed to student skills and workforce development. Negotiated for student management of Holiday Gift Wrap Center to provide students with a real-world understanding of market-driven marketing, management and profitability fundamentals. Proceeds from fund-raiser used to support local social service agencies.

Advisor, MCMS Yearbook: The Tiger
Oversaw this student-run production by 7th and 8th graders, culminating in a hardcover yearbook. Students learned photography, layout, cropping, editing, and the entire production process. Raised funds to support this annual activity.
Advisor, Video Imaging Program Production
Led creative team of student volunteers in the design, editing, and production of an annual 8th grade video production, a reprise of their 8th grade year, which was shown to parents, faculty, administration, and students at the end of the school year.

Camp Counselor
Worked with students with severe physical disabilities ranging in age from 5 to 25 years. Activities included horseback riding, boating and water activities, and crafts. Lived in cabin with campers and provided a comfortable, encouraging, and safe environment.
Summer Associate/VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)
Researched several literacy assessment tools in order to select appropriate literacy experiences for 10th grade students considered to be at-risk. Assessed impact of total summer school experience on these students and proposed program modifications accordingly. Served as resource person for paraprofessionals and helped prepare resource materials for other tutors.
