The Assessment Record Book Portfolio
(based on the work of Nichols & Nichols Institutional Effectiveness
Associates' assessment record book concept and forms) is a theory and
method to rigorously and systematically document in a consistent and
integrated format Rivier College's ongoing assessment of educational
(student) outcomes and the resulting use of results to improve
institutional effectiveness.
The Assessment Record Book
Portfolio consists of three types of forms:
-
Form
A is a title page that identifies the assessment period
covered and the department's name and, if applicable,
degree-granting programs.
-
-
Form
B links the academic program objectives and/or
educational-support unit mission/objectives to Rivier College's
institutional mission and, if applicable, to the eight College-wide
general education academic goals. Form B also lists the intended
educational (student) outcomes or administrative objectives to be
evaluated during the assessment period.
-
-
Form
C constitutes an assessment report concerning each
educational or administrative outcome; it means of assessment and
criteria for success; a summary of the assessment data collected;
and a description of how this assessment information was utilized to
improve student academic achievement, department operations, or
services to students.
Completion of these forms demonstrates the
academic program/educational support unit movement from planning to
implementation of institutional effectiveness and student outcomes
assessment.
The Assessment Record Book
Portfolio answers the need for documentation of the use of assessment
results by creation of a tightly focused, centralized, and concise
historical record of the assessment process that can be verified and
validated at the time of the New England Association of Schools and
Colleges, Commission on Higher Education, regional accreditation visit. |
