The Assessment Committee is responsible for directing the College's efforts towards increasing (a) the Quality of student learning, (b) the quality of academic instruction, and (c) the quality of institutional effectiveness as it relates to academic, in these areas:

                                
Institutional Program Faculty

Responsibility: To see that student learning outcomes meet the academic goals for the institution

 

Action:

  • Developed list of Academic Goals

  • Select assessment tools (e.g., Academic Profile) for "value-added" measure

Responsibility: To see that departments explicitly link assessment to improved instructional delivery and educational (student) outcomes in the major.

Action:

  • Develop an assessment matrix matching program objectives to courses.

  • Directed departments to use consistent format to document and report results of assessment.

Responsibility: To see that faculty use assessment to chart student progress and improve student learning in their classes.

Action:

  • Encourage more explicit statements of learning outcomes and assessment methods on syllabi.

  • Provide workshops for faculty development.
