Be part of the BBBS of Greater Manchester Team ~ Help the staff to maintain successful matches, market to new volunteers, and to add to your resume an important element of community leadership!

Interns at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester will assist in the day-to-day procedures and functions of the agency’s office, and be given the opportunity to create an individualized internship experience plan that coincides with their area of study and future career interests.  Each intern will communicate goals and objectives in a documented plan and then achieve them through assisting and actively participating in the needed roles. 

The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential duties & tasks of the job and should not be considered a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. BBBSA may change the specific job duties with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.

Marketing/Business
•  Research and pursue funding opportunities for non-profits such as possible grants, prospective corporate sponsorships, and potential donors
•  Maintain the social media outlets and update the website as needed; create marketing materials for recruitment events
•  Schedule corporate meetings; assist in the pre and post planning necessities of events and fundraisers
•  Participate in workplace mentoring programs by attending the program and performing additional tasks as needed
•  Participate in agency events and perform additional tasks assigned by the Match Support Specialists, Office Specialist, and the Chief Executive Officer
•  Adhere to the agency’s beliefs and values in all job-related activities

Communication
•  Attend and help prepare agency recruitment events including presentations and volunteer fairs; research and pursue new recruitment opportunities
•  Contact local businesses such as radio stations, magazines, and newspapers to recruit volunteers and advertise for fundraising events
•  Create press releases and edit monthly newsletter; assist in agency mailings
•  Participate in workplace mentoring programs by attending the program and performing additional tasks as needed
•  Participate in agency events and perform additional tasks assigned by the Match Support Specialists, Office Specialist, and the Chief Executive Officer
•  Adhere to the agency’s beliefs and values in all job-related activities

Human services (social sciences)
•  Assist in all parts of the application process by making reference calls, completing and filing paperwork, and other duties relating to family and volunteer and enrollment
•  Observe intake interviews of parents, children and volunteers; write assessments of each individual within 48 hours of the interview
•  In-person match support contacts on sites such as Boys and Girls Club, Girl’s Inc. and schools in the Manchester School District
•  Participate in workplace mentoring programs by attending the program and performing additional tasks as needed
•  Participate in agency events and perform additional tasks assigned by the Match Support Specialists, Office Specialist, and the Chief Executive Officer
 • Adhere to the agency’s beliefs and values in all job-related activities

Education Level:
(minimum & preferred educational requirements necessary to perform this job successfully)
Must be actively pursing a college degree in one of the above areas and have completed a sufficient amount of coursework related to field of interest
