Carl Fischer is offering students the opportunity to enhance their resume with real work experience. This is an excellent chance for students to apply their studies to practical business. Also, for music students, it will be an occasion to learn many facets of the music publishing world which includes; music rental, print on demand, marketing, promotions, sales, production and distribution.
Carl Fischer Music is one of the country's oldest educational and serious music publishers. Located in New York City just north of Houston Street, the company maintains its own publication/editorial departments, as well as sales, marketing and concert /composer promotions. We also assist many orchestras, ensembles and universities throughout the world with our music rental and custom print departments.
Description of responsibilities:
Opportunities will be available to students for marketing and sales programs, data collection and other departmental projects.
Who should apply:This is an excellent opportunity for music students, business/marketing or computer science/web design students. While the interns do not need to be a music student, some experience with music is helpful and some tasks require a basic knowledge of music.
The program:
The interns may work as many hours as they wish, with a minimum of 15 hours a week. The internship will begin September and will end December (dates are flexible). The interns will receive a stipend of $4.00 an hour, as well as a Metrocard to assist in transportation expenses.
Requirements:
• Should be motivated and independent with good work ethic
• Must have good communication skills
• Possess a strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of Word and Excel
• Work well in a group and individually
• A quick study able to pick up projects quickly
• Ability to learn new projects and procedures quickly
• Some positions will require knowledge of music and the ability to read music
