Four different New Hampshire NCAA Division III institutions were represented on the 2007 All-Granite State NCAA Division III Volleyball Team. In addition to the All-Granite State Team, five major individual award winners were also selected. Rivier College senior Lindsay Marshall was named All-Granite State Libero of the Year, Rivier College coach Craig Kolek was named All-Granite State Coach of the Year, junior Brittany O’Bryant was named All-Granite State Player of the Year, Colby-Sawyer College freshman Michelle Doody was named All-Granite State Rookie of the Year and Plymouth State University senior Kirsten Willoughby was named All-Granite State Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. November 6, 2007RAIDERS RACK UP HONORSChace named GNAC Player of the Year The accolades keep rolling in for the Rivier College women's volleyball team. Just days after winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and receiving an automatic bid to the 61 team NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament, four Raiders receive GNAC honors for their outstanding play over the last week as well as the entire season.
Kori Chace (E. Providence, RI) was selected as the GNAC Player of the Year and named to the GNAC First Team All Conference after leading the Raiders to a 25-11 season record. The 5'10” senior opposite hitter became the first Raider in school history to reach 1000 kills and only the 4th Raider to have over 300 kills and 300 digs in a season. She was selected as the GNAC Player of the Week for the week of October 8th and named to the GNAC All Tournament Team for her phenomenal season long play.
Lindsay Marshall (Tiverton, RI) was selected to the GNAC First Team All Conference after another record breaking season on defense for Rivier. The Raiders all time leader in digs outperformed herself once again as her 718 digs set a school record for digs in a season - a record that was previously held by herself in 2005. The senior defensive specialist is the first Raider to tally over 2000 digs in a career. She was named as the GNAC Player of the Week for September 10.
Nicole Hersey (Milton, NH) was selected to the GNAC Second Team All Conference after leading the Raiders with 364 kills this season. The 5'8” junior outside hitter was also named the GNAC Player of the Week for the second time this season thanks to her outstanding play in the GNAC Tournament in which she was named the Most Valuable Player. She averaged 3.69 kills/game in the playoffs to give the Raiders to their second GNAC Championship in school history. Hersey was also named the GNAC Player of the Week on September 17.
Nicole Rodriguez (Newton, MA) was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week due to her great play in the GNAC playoffs including a 19 kill and .419 hitting percentage in the championship match. She was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week on October 29 and named to the GNAC All Tournament Team as well.
Rivier College will travel to MIT on Thursday 11/8 to participate in the Division III NCAA Tournament. The Raiders will take on Amherst College at 3:30pm.

Providence, R.I. – Junior Nicole Hersey (Milton, N.H.) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2007 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship after leading #2 seed Rivier to a thrilling 3-2 victory against #1 seed Johnson & Wales at the Harborside Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. Rivier played flawless right out of the gates and jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 30-20 victory in set one. Johnson & Wales rebounded with a 30-26 win in game two and a 30-28 win in game three. Rivier knotted the match with a 30-26 win in the fourth game. In the fifth and deciding game, the two teams battled until the very end. The Raiders, faced with a seemingly insurmountable 12-14 deficit, showed no signs of giving in and rattled off 4 straight points to take a 16-14 win en route to the 3-2 victory.
Hersey tallied 18 kills and added three digs in the victory for Rivier while freshman Nicole Rodriguez (Newton, Mass.) notched 19 kills and a stellar .419 hitting percentage in the victory for the Raiders. Senior Kori Chace (East Providence, R.I.) added 18 kills, 13 digs and three blocks for the Blue and White. The senior captain became the first Raider in women's volleyball history to reach 1000 kills in a career. Junior setter Laura Ciummo (Burrillville, RI) directed the Raider offense with confidence tallying 59 assists while also adding 7 digs and 2 blocks. Senior libero Lindsay Marshall (Tiverton, RI) was a rock in the back row with 33 digs and only 1 receive error in 33 attempts. Senior Ashley Snell (Haverhill, MA) was steady with 9 digs and great passing while junior Colleen Van Cura (E. Lyme, CT) gutted out 11 digs while playing on a dislocated knee. Sophomore Lindsay Chace (E. Providence, RI) was consistent with 4 kills, 5 digs, and 3 blocks. Freshman Danielle Jacques (Derry, NH), who served out the final 3 points of the match, registered 8 kills, 7 digs, 3 blocks, and 2 service aces.
This is the Raiders' second GNAC Championship in five years.
With the win Rivier improves to 25-11 and will play in the 2007 NCAA Division III Championships at MIT, starting on Thursday, November 8th.

Nashua, NH - Rivier College (24-11 overall; 12-1 GNAC) defeated Emerson College in five games to advance to the GNAC Finals for the third straight year and fourth time in five years. The Raiders also extended their win streak to seven games but was pushed to the limit by a pesky Lions squad. Setter Laura Ciummo directed the Raider offense nicely with 44 assists and also served tough and played good defense with 3 aces and 11 digs. Outside hitter Nicole Hersey had another great playoff game with a team high 18 kills while senior Ashley Snell came up big as well with defense, serving and passing registering 9 digs, 4 service aces, and 8 for 9 on receive. Kori Chace picked up another double double with 19 digs and 13 kills and also helped out with 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 ace serve along with good passing. Lindsay Marshall once again led the defense, serving, and passing with a team high 25 digs and 5 service aces as well as a perfect 24 for 24 on receive. Freshmen Danielle Jacques and Nicole Rodriguez both were steady with 9 kills apiece while Jacques also picked up 7 digs and 1 block. Lindsay Chace contributed on both sides of the court with 5 kills and 2 blocks while Becky Gautreau played well with 13 digs and 20/21 on receive.
The Raiders will travel to Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI for the GNAC Championship match on Saturday, November 3rd at 1:00pm.

30-22 32-30 30-13 Nashua, NH - Rivier College (23-11 overall; 12-1 GNAC) defeated 3 time defending GNAC champion Emmanuel College in the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference playoffs on Tuesday night. The Raiders controlled both games 1 and 3 but found themselves down by 12 points in game 2 only to come roaring back and tie the set at 29-29 and eventually go on for the win at 32-30. Nicole Hersey was calm cool and collected as she bombed away for a team high 12 kills. The junior outside hitter also was solid on defense with 5 digs and 1 block. First year middle hitter Nicole Rodriguez also put her best foot forward with 9 kills on 12 attempts with just 1 error for a .667 hitting percentage. Fellow freshman Danielle Jacques was steady with 4 kills on 8 attempts with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage in just 2 games. Seniors Ashley Snell and Lisa Haggerty were key contributors in the second game comeback with their serving and passing. Setter Laura Ciummo dished out 30 assists and served well with 4 ace serves. Libero Lindsay Marshall's serving was also huge all during the match with a team high 7 ace serves. The senior captain also had a team high 16 digs. Senior Kori Chace chipped in with 8 kills, 4 assists, and 3 digs while her sophomore sister, Lindsay Chace, did her part with 3 kills and 1 block.
Rivier advances to the GNAC semifinals on Thursday 11/1. The Raiders will host # 3 seed Emerson College at 7:00pm.
October 30, 2007 RODRIGUEZ NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Rivier's Nicole Rodriguez was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for her solid play during the week of October 21, 2007. The first year player helped Rivier to a 3-0 record with wins over UMass Dartmouth, Westfield State College, and Newbury College. Rodriguez, a 5'8 middle hitter from Newton Massachusetts, averaged 2.89 kills/game, .66 blocks/game, and hit for a .250% in nine games for the Raiders. In a five set victory over Westfield State, she was huge with 16 kills and five blocks while hitting for a .323 clip on offense. Rodriguez is the second Raider this season to be named the GNAC ROW following fellow classmate Michelle Johnson who was named for the week of September 17, 2007.

Nashua, NH - Rivier College (22-11 overall; 12-1 GNAC) finished the regular season on a winning note with wins against Westfield State College and Newbury College on Saturday. Nicole Rodriguez led the Raiders against WSC with an outstanding effort. The freshman middle hitter paced RIV with 16 kills (31 attempts / 6 errors / .323 hitting percentage) and 5 blocks. Outside hitter Nicole Hersey bombed away with 19 kills while middle hitter Lindsay Chace played well with 8 kills. Senior captain Kori Chace did a little bit of everything with 12 kills, 19 digs, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 service aces. Setter Laura Ciummo dished out a career high 61 assists and outside hitter Danielle Jacques came off the bench for 6 kills and 2 ace serves. Defensive specialists Colleen Van Cura and Becky Gautreau combined for 19 digs while senior libero Lindsay Marshall had a team high 21 digs. Seniors Ashley Snell, Lisa Haggerty, Kori Chace, and Lindsay Marshall played the last regular season game of their careers and went out in style with a 3-0 sweep of Newbury. Snell led the charge with a team high 10 kills and 6 digs while Haggerty followed with 6 kills and 10 digs. Marshall and Chace tallied 5 kills and 4 digs respectively. Junior Erin McIver played well with 7 kills (7 kills / 0 errors / 9 attempts / .778 hitting %) and 4 digs while freshmen Brittni Taylor chipped in with 2 kills and 3 digs.
Rivier will host the first round of the GNAC playoffs on Tuesday 10/30. Defending GNAC Champion Emmanuel College will challenge RIV at 7:00pm.

Rivier College (20-11 overall; 12-1 GNAC) won their 20th match of the season with a great defensive effort against UMass Dartmouth on Thursday night. The Raiders, who have now won at least 20 matches for the 3rd year in a row, scooped up 100 digs in the game to stifle the Corsairs offense. The big three of Lindsay Marshall, Colleen Van Cura and Kori Chace were outstanding combining for 69 Raider digs all while passing a stellar 49 for 51 on serve receive. Sophomore Becky Gautreau was on her game as well rounding off the defense with 11 digs and passing 9 for 10 on receive. Setter Laura Ciummo ran a great offense dishing the ball out for 57 assists including to 4 different Raiders with double digits in kills. Freshman Michelle Johnson led all Raiders with 17 kills in just 2 1/2 games while fellow classmate Nicole Rodriguez put down 10 kills out of the middle. Nicole Hersey and Kori Chace did their part with 11 and 17 kills respectively. Middle hitter Lindsay Chace and outside hitter Danielle Jacques were solid for 2 games to help round off the defense and offense for the Raiders.
Rivier will return home to host their last regular season matches of the year on Saturday 10/27. Rivier will take on MASCAC champion Westfield State College at 11:00am followed by Senior Day against Newbury College at 2:30pm.

Newton, MA - Rivier College (11-1 GNAC; 18-11 overall) defeated Lasell College in 3 straight sets for their 11th GNAC win of the season. RIV took control of the match early and never looked back thanks to solid play by junior Erin McIver and freshman Danielle Jacques. McIver played steady all the way around with 6 kills, 5 digs, 3 blocks, and 3 service aces while Jacques kicked in with 7 kills, 4 digs, and 3 service aces. Defensive specialists Lindsay Marshall and Colleen Van Cura combined for 33 of the Raiders 54 digs and passed a perfect 21/21 on serve receive. Van Cura also led the team with 23 service attempts keeping the Lasers off balance. Setter Laura Ciummo dished out 32 assists and had a team high 4 service aces.
Nashua, NH - Rivier College (12-1 GNAC; 19-11 overall) capped off the weekend with a 3-0 sweep over undefeated GNAC foe Emerson College to secure home playoff matches for the first two rounds of the GNAC playoffs. Kori Chace once again was crucial to the Raiders success in all aspects of the match. The senior opposite had a team high 10 kills and 6 service aces along with 8 digs and stellar passing. Junior Nicole Hersey bombed away with 10 kills on 20 attempts with just 1 error for a .450 hitting percentage while senior libero Lindsay Marshall anchored the defense with 13 digs. Freshmen Nicole Rodriguez and Michelle Johnson came up big with 7 and 8 kills respectively including a .538 hitting percentage (7 kills / 13 attempts / 0 errors) by Rodriguez. Junior setter Laura Ciummo settled in with 35 assists and 9 digs.

Providence, RI - Rivier College (10-1 GNAC; 17-11 overall) suffered their first GNAC loss of the season losing to Johnson & Wales University in an exciting 5 set match on Tuesday night. The Raiders struggled with unforced errors at inopportune times,making it hard to keep leads for most of the sets. Senior Kori Chace had herself a match as she tallied a double double with 27 kills and 10 digs. The opposite hitter shouldered most of the Raider offense hitting .350 for the match (27 kills/ 6 errors/ 60 attempts). Freshman middle hitter Nicole Rodriguez had a great match against the Cats bigger middles tallying 13 kills on 30 attempts with just 4 errors for a .300 hitting percentage. Outside hitters Nicole Hersey and Danielle Jacques put down 17 and 8 kills respectively. Senior libero Lindsay Marshall led all defensive players with 30 digs on the match.

Northampton, MA - Rivier College (17-10; 10-0 GNAC) went 1-2 to place 4th in the Smith College Invitational. The Raiders started out with a strong win over Elmira College on day one but lost a tough five set match to Plymouth State University to drop to the silver round of the tourney on day two. The Raiders never fully regrouped after the PSU match and were defeated by Keene State College for the 4th place finish.
In match one against Elmira College Kori Chace was virtually unstoppable. The senior opposite hitter tallied 18 kills on 38 swings with just three errors for a .395 hitting percentage while picking up 8 digs with 3blocks for a well rounded match. Freshmen Nicole Rodriguez and Danielle Jacques had great matches as well with 6 kills and only 1 hitting error apiece. Senior Ashley Snell had a solid match with a team high 5 ace serves along with 9 digs while junior setter Laura Ciummo dished out 38 assists. Junior Nicole Hersey and Lindsay Chace did their part with 9 kills and 4 blocks respectively.
Against PSU, senior libero Lindsay Marshall became the first Raider in school history to eclipse the 2000 dig mark for a career. The Raiders captain was nasty with 37 digs in 5 games for a 7.4 dig/game average. Outside hitter Danielle Jacques had another solid match narrowly missing a double double with 10 kills and 9 digs. Kori Chace once again led the offense with 17 kills and played good defense with 19 digs. Juniors Colleen Van Cura and Laura Ciummo combined for 18 digs. Van Cura also passed a steady 18/18 on serve receive.
Nicole Hersey led all Raiders on offense against Keene State. The outside hitter from Milton New Hampshire put down 13 kills on 29 attempts with just 1 error for a .414 hitting percentage. Sophomore Becky Gautreau came off the bench to lead all Raiders with 15 digs in just 2 games while Ashley Snell and Kori Chace combined for 21 digs on the match. Junior Erin McIver and freshman Michelle Johnson chipped in with 6 and 5 kills apiece.
The Raiders will travel to Providence RI on Tuesday 10/16 for a 7pm match against Johnson & Wales University. This will be a battle for first place in the GNAC as both teams are the only remaining undefeated teams left in the conference.

Nashua, NH - Rivier College (10-0 GNAC;16-8 overall) extended their win streak to a season best 6 games and remained undefeated in GNAC play with a 3-0 sweep of cross-town rival Daniel Webster College. The Raiders set the tone early with a convincing 30-12 first set victory and never looked back. Rivier's freshmen played well to pace the Raiders. Michelle Johnson tallied 15 kills followed by Nicole Rodriguez with 7 kills and Brittni Taylor with 8 digs. Defensive specialists Becky Gautreau, Colleen Van Cura, and Lisa Haggerty all picked up 8 digs apiece. Setter Laura Ciummo directed the offense with 36 assists.
October 9, 2007 KORI CHACE NAMED GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rivier College's Kori Chace was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Raiders to a 5-0 week in the GNAC. Chace, a 5'11 opposite hitter from East Providence Rhode Island, was stellar on both ends of the floor averaging 3.4 kills/game and 3.3 digs/game in 9 games. In their win against defending GNAC champions Emmanuel College, Chace registered a double double with 16 kills and 15 digs and also chipped in with a perfect 25 for 25 on serve receive. She is the third Raider to be named GNAC Player of the Week following fellow captain Lindsay Marshall and junior Nicole Hersey.

The Raiders handled both teams in 3 straight sets to extend their win steak to 5 games and their overall record to 15-8. Kori Chace and Nicole Hersey led the Raider offense with 15 kills apiece while Chace also added to the defense with 15 digs. Lindsay Marshall led all defenders with 35 digs and Colleen Van Cura picked up 9 digs and passed nails with a perfect 15/15 for serve receive. Laura Ciummo directed the defense with 49 helpers while Michelle Johnson and Danielle Jacques put down a combined 13 kills. The Raiders swept both SJM and SJC to move to 7-0 in the GNAC. Junior setter Laura Ciummo directed the Raider offense with 55 assists and also had a team high 11 service aces on the day. Sophomore libero Becky Gautreau paced the defense and passing with 12 digs and 15 for 18 on serve receive. Freshman Nicole Rodriguez led the offense with 14 kills from both the middle hitter and outside hitter position. Fellow freshmen Michelle Johnson and Brittni Taylor were steady as well. Johnson, who made her return to the court from an ankle injury, put down 13 kills and 9 service aces while Taylor picked up 7 kills and 7 digs. Seniors Ashley Snell and Lisa Haggerty were significant factors not only with their play (10 kills, 10 digs and 3 kills, 9 digs respectively) but also with their court leadership. Middle hitters Lindsay Chace and Erin McIver played well with a combined 13 kills.

Boston MA - Rivier College (5-0 GNAC; 11-8 overall) defeated Emmanuel College 3-1 to pick up their fifth conference victory of the year. Senior captains Kori Chace and Lindsay Marshall led the Raiders combining for 43 of the Raiders 75 digs in the match. The duo also passed successfully 49 of RIV's 71 receive attempts. Chace led the team with 16 kills while junior Nicole Hersey followed with 13 kills of her own. Middle hitters Erin McIver and Lindsay Chace were steady with 6 kills and 1 block apiece while freshman Danielle Jacques chipped in with 7 kills. Juniors Laura Ciummo and Colleen Van Cura had 40 assists and 9 digs respectively.
The Raiders hope to continue their winning ways in the GNAC with 4 conference matches over the weekend. On Saturday 10/6 Rivier will take on St. Joseph's College (ME) at 11:00am and then St. Joseph College (CT) at 3:00pm. On Sunday 10/7 the Raiders will match up against Norwich University at 11:00am and Simmons College at 3:00pm.

Lewiston ME - Rivier College (10-8 overall; 4-0 GNAC) went 2-2 in the Bates College Invitational over the weekend to improve their overall record to 10 wins and 8 losses. The Raiders, who served tough and played stifling defense on Friday, but couldn't find the same intensity on Saturday, defeated Colby for the second straight year and Eastern Connecticut for the first time in college history. The Raiders averaged an outstanding 25 digs/game and 3 ace serves/game in their 2 wins against CC and ECSU while only able to muster 18 digs/game and .5 ace serves/game in their losses to Springfield and Bowdoin. Senior Kori Chace led the Raiders with 56 digs and 41 kills. Senior Lindsay Marshall and Junior Nicole Hersey led all Raiders with 84 digs and 42 kills respectively. Junior Colleen Van Cura was steady with 30 digs while fellow classmate Laura Ciummo dished out 94 assists. Freshman Danielle Jacques chipped in with 17 kills and a team high 6 service aces.
The Raiders will return to their conference schedule on Wednesday 10/3 against Emmanuel College. This will be a rematch of the 2006 and 2005 GNAC championship games both won by Emmanuel. Game time is 7:00pm.

Newton, MA - Rivier College (4-0 GNAC; 8-6 Overall) remains undefeated in GNAC play after a hard fought 5 set match against Mount Ida College on Tuesday night. The Raiders struggled most of the night to find their game but still managed to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the match. MIC regrouped and outfought RIV in sets 3 and 4 to tie the match at 2-2 before the Blue and Gray dug down deep to pull out the 5th set for the victory. Senior Kori Chace was the difference for the Raiders playing her best all around game to date in her collegiate career. The opposite hitter from E. Providence Rhode Island nearly pulled off a triple double with a team high 19 kills along with 19 digs and 6 assists. Chace was also the team’s best passer as she received 26 serves with just 2 passing errors and chipped in with 1 block and 1 service ace. Freshman Danielle Jacques played a steady match with 10 kills and 4 digs and led the team with 28 serve attempts including several timely serves in the 5th set. The outside/opposite hitter also led the team with 2 blocks. Senior Ashley Snell came off the bench to provide a spark with 6 kills and 10 digs in just 4 games.

Boston, MA - Rivier College (3-0 GNAC; 7-6 overall) defeated both Albertus Magnus College and Suffolk University in three straight sets to move to 3-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Freshmen Nicole Rodriguez, Brittni Taylor, and Danielle Jacques led the Raiders on the day. Rodriguez, who split the day between outside hitter and middle hitter, tallied 10 kills on 25 attempts with just 2 errors for a .320 hitting percentage. Taylor was just as effective with 5 service aces along with 7 kills on 12 attempts with 2 errors for a .416 hitting percentage. Jacques nearly pulled off a double double for the day with 10 kills and 9 service aces. Sophomore Becky Gautreau had a great day with 9 digs, 4 aces serves, and a steady 16/17 on receive. Middle hitter Lisa Haggerty played well with 5 kills, 5 digs, and 12/12 on serve receive.
The Raiders will travel to Mount Ida College on Tuesday 9/25 for an important GNAC match. Game time is 7pm.
RAIDERS STUMBLE AGAINST KEENERivier College 2 Keene State College 3
30-22 30-19 25-30 21-30 9-15 Rivier College (5-6 overall; 1-0 GNAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with championship type play but failed to put away visiting Keene State College in any of the last 3 sets. RIV's defense set the tone early in the match by frustrating KSC but the visitors dug down deep and out fought the blue and white to gain the victory. Senior libero Lindsay Marshall broke a Raider single game record for digs with 48. Marshall shattered her own previous record of 32 digs from a match in 2006. Nicole Hersey led the offense with 17 kills while Lindsay Chace, Ashley Snell, and Danielle Jacques all contributed with 8, 7, and 6 kills respectively. Setters Laura Ciummo and Colleen Van Cura combined for 44 assists and 18 digs in the 5-set effort while Kori Chace chipped in with 3 blocks.

33-31 30-26 21-30 30-22 Rivier College (5-5 overall; 1-0 GNAC) defeated Southern New Hampshire University 3-1 giving the Raiders their first win in program history against a Division II university. The Raiders came out focused and confident and took the first 2 sets of the match. The Penmen rebounded in set 3 but Rivier bounced right back to take the last set for the victory. Kori Chace led the Raiders. The senior opposite hitter was virtually unstoppable on offense with a team high 15 kills on 29 attempts with just 2 errors for a .448 hitting percentage. She also tallied 18 digs and 2 service aces all while passing 30/31 on serve receive. Setter Laura Ciummo returned to the lineup for her first start of the year to dish out 22 assists while her counterpart, Colleen Van Cura, assisted in 25 of the Raiders kills. Senior libero Lindsay Marshall once again led the defense with 22 digs as well as the passing with 37 out 38 successful attempts. First year player Danielle Jacques played steady with 7 kills and 9 digs while senior Ashley Snell contributed with 7 kills and 4 digs. Junior outside hitter Nicole Hersey put down 14 kills while middle hitters Erin McIver and Lindsay Chace combined for 10 kills. McIver also led the Raiders with 3 blocks.
HERSEY AND JOHNSON RECEIVE GNAC HONORS 
Rivier College's Nicole Hersey and Michelle Johnson were named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively for their solid play in leading Rivier to a 1-1 week with a win over Pine Manor and a loss to Colby-Sawyer College. Hersey, a 5'9 outside hitter from Milton New Hampshire, averaged 4.4 kills/game and a .377 hitting percentage including a 17 kill performance against Colby-Sawyer College. Johnson, a 5'10 outside hitter from N. Kingstown RI, averaged 3.16 kills/game and a .307 hitting percentage including a 6 kill and .500 hitting performance against Pine Manor College. 30-14 30-14 30-19 Rivier College (1-0 GNAC; 4-5 overall) defeated Pine Manor College in three straight sets to win their first GNAC match of the season. The Raiders set the tone early and cruised in the match with all 13 healthy Raiders contributing to the victory. Defensive specialists Lisa Haggerty and Becky Gautreau paced Rivier with solid passing and defense combining for 8 digs and 15/16 on serve receive. First year players Brittni Taylor, Nicole Rodriguez, Danielle Jacques, and Michelle Johnson combined for 18 of the Raiders' 36 team kills. Juniors Erin McIver and Colleen Van Cura were solid as well. McIver put down 5 kills and 2 blocks while Van Cura ran the offense with 22 assists.
MARSHALL NAMED GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK Rivier's Lindsay Marshall was selected as the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference's Player of the Week for the women’s volleyball 2007 season. The 5'5” senior libero from Tiverton, Rhode Island, led Rivier to a 3-4 record with a second place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational. Marshall has been nothing less than solid in the back row for the Raiders with 152 digs and a 5.43 dig/game average including a 28 dig performance in a 3 set loss to the University of Whitman at the Las Vegas Blast Invitational. This is the second time in her career as the GNAC Player of the Week.

30-20 30-21 30-26 Bristol, RI -Rivier College (3-4 overall; 0-0 GNAC) defeated University of New England in three sets and host Roger Williams University in 5 sets to take second place for the second straight year at the RWU Invitational. The Raiders started the tournament off with a 1-3 loss to a tough Amherst College team but regrouped with victories over RWU and UNE. The match of the day pitted RIV vs Roger Williams and things did not look good for the visitors early. The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first two sets and seemed in control of the match. Rivier made a few key adjustments in their line-up as well as their serving and dug down deep to pull out a dramatic come from behind win. Senior opposite hitter Kori Chace and junior outside hitter Nicole Hersey were selected to the All Invitational Team. Chace tallied 27 kills and 39 digs while Hersey had a Raider high with 42 kills and a .248 hitting percentage. Senior Libero Lindsay Marshall had a team high 58 digs while junior setter Colleen Van Cura dished out 87 assists. Utility senior Ashley Snell had a solid tourney with 18 assists, 19 digs, 8 kills, and 4 service aces. Sophomore middle hitter Lindsay Chace came up huge with her serving against Roger Williams and also contributed with 10 kills, 2 aces, and 2 blocks on the tourney. Junior middle hitter Erin McIver chipped in 10 kills and 3 blocks while Freshman Danielle Jacques picked up her first double double of her career with 13 kills and 14 digs against Roger Williams.
RAIDERS OPEN UP 2007 SEASON IN LAS VEGASRivier College kicked off the 2007 season in style with a trip to Las Vegas over Labor Day Weekend to face off against some tough national competition. The Raiders (1-3 overall; 0-0 GNAC) battled all weekend but only came up with 1 win despite solid team play throughout the tournament. Junior setter Colleen Van Cura was selected to the All Invitational Team as she averaged 8.44 assists/game and 2.25 digs/game. Senior libero Lindsay Marshall averaged a tournament high 5.88 digs/game while only making 6 receiving errors in the 4 matches. Junior outside hitter Nicole Hersey led all Raiders with 36 kills and a 2.40 kills/game average while senior Kori Chace followed with 31 kills and a 2.38 kills/game average of her own. Senior utility player Ashley Snell did a little bit of everything with 33 digs, 10 service aces, 9 assists, 8 kills, and 2 blocks. Sophomore Lindsay Chace chipped in with 21 kills, 9 service aces, and 5 blocks. Freshmen trio Michelle Johnson, Danielle Jacques, and Nicole Rodriguez kicked off promising collegiate careers with a combined 61 kills, 45 digs, and 9 blocks in the tournament.
