Rivier to add field hockey, lacrosse to athletic offerings

ABOUT ATHLETICS AT RIVIER

If you have the heart and the drive, you can be a Rivier Raider. Our student-athletes are a special breed, turning hard work, focus, and teamwork into a winning combination both on and off the field.

Rivier Raiders compete as Division III members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and the New England Collegiate Volleyball Association. The College fields ten varsity teams—five men’s and five women’s teams including baseball, basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Field hockey will begin in fall 2009; men's and women's lacrosse start in spring 2010.

Our philosophy is that academics come first. Coaches take an active role in helping student athletes to balance the challenges of academic life with the demands of athletic competition. All students participating in athletics—whether on the varsity level, or for recreation or fitness—can expect to enhance their physical well-being, focus, drive and determination—qualities that bring success in all areas of life.
