There are many reasons why Rivier's education programs stand out. A few of the highlights:
- A 100% pass rate on national certification exams
- Field experience starting early in the program
- Eligibility for certification in 41 states including all of New England, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and U.S. Department of Defense Dependents' Schools worldwide.
Facilities and resources
Rivier's Education Center is one of the finest facilities of its kind in northern New England. It includes an NAEYC-accredited eight-room early childhood laboratory school for children aged 6 months to 5 years, where students can conduct observations and gain hands-on experience.
The Education Center is also home to the Cho Educational Resource Center. An extensive K-12 curriculum library, the ERC includes recently published textbooks, educational software, a parenting resource center, a children's literature collection, videos and more. Rivier has become a statewide leader in preparing teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms.
Early field-based experience
Rivier's education graduates have nearly a 100% job placement rate. They're confident in front of a classroom: through observations and student-teaching, they have learned to connect theory with practice. With early field-based experience, you'll have the opportunity to observe and participate in classes at different schools and grade levels.
During your senior year student teaching practicum, you'll create lesson plans, teach, and assess student learning under the guidance of experienced cooperating teachers and a college supervisor.
