Rivier's English and English education programs give you a solid background in literature, critical thinking and both creative and professional writing. You'll develop an understanding of the historical context and aesthetic traditions of English and American literature, hone your writing skills, and explore the interplay between reading and writing literature. Our programs prepare students for careers in a variety of areas as well as for graduate work in such fields as English, law, divinity, and business.
English Department facilities and resources
The newly renovated and expanded Regina Library offers 91,000 volumes and access to more than three million volumes in 12 area libraries. Students also have online access to licensed databases in literature, language, literary criticism, poetry, author biographies and more.
Jobs and internships
Rivier English and English education graduates have gone on to careers in public relations, journalism, publishing, teaching and more.
In addition to real-world assignments in your classes, during your senior year, you'll complete an internship that will help you build your skills, your résumé and your professional network. Recent English and English education internships have included student teaching in middle and high schools, a position as an editorial assistant at PennWell Publishing and more.
