There are many reasons Rivier's education programs stand out. Here are a few of the highlights:
• A 100% pass rate on national certification exams
• Field experience starting your freshman year—students average 150 hours of classroom training prior to student teaching
• Eligibility for certification in 41 states, including all of New England, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, and the United States Department of Defense Dependents' Schools world-wide.
Division of Education facilities and resources
Rivier's Education Center is one of the finest facilities of its kind in northern New England. It includes an NAEYC-accredited eight-room early childhood laboratory school for children aged 6 months to 5 years, where students can conduct observations and gain hands-on experience. The Center also offers a parenting resource center, satellite-linked classrooms, and high-speed internet and network access.
The Education Center is also home to the Cho Education Resource Center. An extensive curriculum library, the ERC includes recently published textbooks, educational software, videos and more. Rivier has become a statewide leader in preparing teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms.
Rivier education graduates have nearly a 100% job placement rate. They're confident in front of a classroom; through observations and student teaching, they have learned to connect theory with practice. From your freshman year, you'll observe classrooms in several different schools and grade levels to determine where you'll fit in best. During your senior year student teaching practicum, you'll create lesson plans, teach, and assess student learning under the guidance of cooperating teachers and a college supervisor.
You'll find Rivier education graduates teaching at every level—they're in early childhood classrooms, elementary schools, high schools, and teaching in higher education. They work in schools across the country and around the world.
