Inspire young minds to grow.

The M.Ed. in Elementary Education is designed for current teachers and career changers who hold a bachelor’s degree and want to become certified to teach at the elementary level. Students learn proven teaching strategies and strengthen their mastery of academic content working with professors who are widely recognized regionally and nationally as experts in their fields.

Rivier University is a statewide leader in preparing teachers to integrate technology into their classrooms. Graduates are well-rounded teachers, prepared to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to help children get the best education possible.

Program of Study
This 39-credit program includes coursework, field experiences, and a six-credit internship. Coursework spans a wide range of subjects—reading, mathematics, science, history, the arts, technology, classroom behavior management, and more. Field experiences are embedded in relevant coursework; early field experiences are tailored to graduate students’ needs, competencies, and experiences. The program culminates with a 14-week internship. Click the View Curriculum icon above for prerequisite and required courses.

Courses are offered in 7-week or 14-week terms. There are a total of six 7-week terms per year (two terms in each of the fall, spring, and summer semesters). 14-week terms are offered once per semester in the fall, spring, and summer.

The Education Center also includes counseling rooms with one-way observation windows.

Regina Library offers access to reference materials such as journals and online databases to support student research and learning outside the classroom.

Licensure
With a Rivier education degree, graduates are eligible for certification in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Territories; the Department of Defense Education Activity; Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario per the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement.

Students seeking teacher certification must apply for licensure after successfully completing the internship, the program competencies, and other program requirements. (New Hampshire teacher licensure is not automatic with the completion of the internship.)
