Students in Rivier's graduate psychology programs develop a solid foundation in the biopsychosocial basis of behavior and expertise in research design, data collection, analysis, and evaluation. Programs offer hands-on experience and plentiful opportunities to work with industry-standard software. Most classes are offered during the day.
Our Doctorate of Psychology in Counseling and School Psychology (Psy.D.) program prepares graduates to obtain licensure for independent practice, and for professional opportunities in a variety of school, agency, community, and public service settings, as well as the ability to teach at the university level.
Our psychology master’s programs prepare you for:
• Ph.D. or Psy.D. doctoral programs
• Teaching in higher education
• Employment in academic, business, government, or human service settings
Facilities and resources
The clinical psychology laboratory provides space for training and instruction in individual and group therapy, testing, assessment, and research. A room with a one-way mirror offers students an opportunity to gain experience under supervision while maintaining privacy.
The behavioral sciences laboratory offers five computers with Empirisoft MediaLab and Direct RT software for millisecond precision in measuring cognition and perception in subjects. Computers are also equipped with SPSS for data analysis.
Partnerships and careers
Rivier has strong relationships in place with numerous agencies throughout the area, including the Child Advocacy Center, Nashua's Senior Activity Center, Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, and Nashua District Court Juvenile Justice Services.
Students who wish to become licensed at the graduate level may continue their studies by entering Rivier's Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) program in counseling, which could qualify them for licensure as a master’s level mental health counselor in some states.
