Diane Droutman became a full-time faculty member at Rivier in fall of 2009. Diane graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. in 1988 with a BSN in Nursing. After graduation, she began her nursing career at a large medical center in Boston, on an Orthopedic/Medical Surgical Unit. She continued her nursing career in a variety of settings, including mental health with young adults and adolescents focusing on eating disorders, and then geriatrics as a Nurse Manager on a skilled unit, and nursing supervisor of a 300-bed facility for 10 years. Diane’s role as supervisor included precepting new employees and educating staff. She enjoyed teaching and accepted a position at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Nashua in 2003. Diane completed a master's in nursing specializing in education from University of Phoenix in 2008. As a clinical instructor, she is able to draw from her many years of experience to help educate future nurses.
"My nursing education philosophy is to facilitate and provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and practice the skills learned in the classroom setting. Students need to develop their skills and use critical thinking in the clinical setting in order to become competent, caring nurses.”
