Rivier’s psychology programs will develop your understanding and knowledge of individual and group dynamics, and give you a solid background in the scientific study of human behavior, both individually and within society. Graduates of the program successfully work as social work case managers, juvenile justice workers, program directors, mental health counselors, and more in a variety of fields including education, healthcare, social services, government, business and industry.

Rivier’s programs in human development and psychology offer built-in flexibility, so that you can tailor your degree to your individual interests and goals. Many of our students choose to combine this major with a minor in any number of related fields.

In preparing for a career or graduate school, students often collaborate with faculty members, conducting research in their area of interest. Faculty in the Psychology Department have published in peer-reviewed journals and their research has been featured in national and regional newspapers, including USA Today, the Nashua Telegraph, and the Manchester Union Leader. Students have presented at professional conferences, including the New England Psychological Association Conference. Graduates have continued on to master's and doctoral work in their major areas, or related fields such as social work, law, education, and business.
